We want all members of our community to make a valuable contribution to the economic, social and civic life in Bolton. Our courses are available to all members of the Bolton community but we strive to reach speakers of English as a second language and those with low incomes or receiving benefits for personal and professional development. BLS strives to promote unity, tolerance, success and respect amongst the residents of Bolton and wider nationwide communities through language based learning other and relevant courses.
Take a look at the menu to find which courses suit your needs.
BLS aims to provide students with a sense of belonging in the local community. We teach English to Speakers of Other Language (ESOL) at very reasonable prices *free for some* to help students to improve their daily communication skills, build confidence and integrate into the life in UK.
ESOL classes may be supported by native language translations where appropriate. BLS also offers Pre-Entry English classes with phonetics and alphabet support, for learners without any prior knowledge of English and the Roman alphabet (See Pre-Entry English Reading and Writing classes).
At BLS a lot of emphasis is placed upon developing independence alongside providing access to learning to all, enabling everyone to progress to the best of their own ability. For anybody looking to improve their computer skills – to learn how to write and send emails, apply for jobs and create their own personal CV – enquire at reception about our free classes.
ESOL Classes run at Pre-Entry Level, Entry Level 1 and Pre-Intermediate classes. The option for more classes may be available. Please register your interest at Reception.
*FREE courses may be available if you are on eligible benefits*
We work in partnership with Bolton Job Centre to ensure that all members of the Bolton community are able to study in a way that meets their needs, regardless of level of income, to benefit potential employers, the wider community and the students personally.
